Majors, Minors, & Certificates


A minor in Italian is a wonderful complement to a host of other majors in the arts, sciences or business. It prepares a student to study abroad in Italy and enhances critical reading, analytical, research and communication skills. Graduates may pursue careers in a variety of areas including museum science, historical research, law, education and library science, to name a few.

  • Students learn to communicate effectively in Italian through an immersive approach to language study.
  • In addition to the language, Italian culture and history are studied to enhance understanding of Italy and the Italian language.

Modern Languages and Classics Department

We study the past and prepare students for a global future, offering major and minor degrees in Classics, French, German, Greek, Italian, Latin and Spanish, as well as instruction in all levels of American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese and Russian.
