Our Student Designed Interdisciplinary Major (SDIM) is perfect for students with motivation to pursue their own unique course of study. It's designed for students who have an interest other than the ones covered by our traditional majors—our Saints look outside the box to form their path to success.

SDIM can be a primary major or a second major.

Students who design their own major earn a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in their area of study.

Some of the concentrations a student might pursue include:

  • Asian Studies
  • Catholic Studies
  • Gender Studies
  • Culture, Visual Communications, and Identity
  • Latin American Studies
  • Middle Eastern Studies
  • Medieval Studies
  • Human Consciousness Studies
  • Peace and War Studies
  • Power and the Human Condition

We've Got What You're Looking For

See a minor on our list that interests you? Our SDIM can also expand many minors into a major! This includes: broadcast and society, criminal justice, Franciscan service and advocacy, health management, health studies, international business, international studies, Medieval and Renaissance studies, multicultural studies, multimedia, peace studies, Revolutionary Era studies, women’s studies. Less disciplinarily focused options might include: human consciousness studies, animal ethics, power and the human condition, poverty and the American experience.

Faculty Make the Difference

Although you are creating your own path of study—you won't be on it alone. Our SDIM gives students a mentoring community that is with them every step of the way.
