Academic Affairs Mission Statement

The mission of Academic Affairs is to promote a culture of academic excellence as this is integral to both the institutional mission and strategic plan of Siena College. Informed by the Siena Learning Goals and outcomes-based decision making, the Office supports a student-centered focus in all academic departments, co-curricular programs, and academic support services. Faculty members are supported as teachers and scholars as they prepare students for further study and professional accomplishment. Committed to the Franciscan and liberal arts traditions, Academic Affairs encourages concern for the welfare of humanity, dedication to public service, and an awareness of the social issues confronting a diverse global society.

Welcome from the Provost and Senior Vice President

The decision to enroll as a student or to join us as a new faculty member are very similar in many respects. They both involve finding an academic home, a place where you are comfortable and a place where you will be challenged to grow intellectually both on your own and as part of a community. My hope is that this website will provide the information you need to make that decision. I encourage you to do your homework and look us over. Then, come and visit. I’m confident that you will find your passion here, as I have.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by e-mail at mmadden@siena.edu. - Margaret E. Madden, Ph.D.
