Siena's Cybersecurity and Enterprise Risk Management four-course graduate certification program will prepare students to develop and implement risk governance and control environment frameworks to increase corporate control safeguards for individuals, departments, and organizations.
Siena's certificate offers a specialized, interdisciplinary approach to cybersecurity that examines the field through the lenses of ethics, communications, risk management, compliance law, data analytics and organizational change. The program is designed to fit the schedules of working professionals. The 12 credits required to earn this certificate can be applied toward the University's AACSB-accredited Master of Science in Accountancy or Master of Business Administration.
Why Earn a Cybersecurity Certificate?
Cybersecurity has become a priority for organizations of every size. Employers need professionals who understand how to reduce vulnerabilities, strengthen internal controls, and support responsible decision-making in a digital environment.
An advanced certificate offers a focused way to gain these high-demand skills without the time commitment of a full degree program. It is an excellent option for individuals seeking career growth, expanded responsibilities, or specialized expertise that complements an existing business or technology background.
What you'll learn
The Four Required Courses Are:
Cybersecurity and Oversight of Information System Security
Learn how cybersecurity works across an entire organization, not just within IT. Students explore how policies, risk management, compliance, and business continuity come together to protect systems, while identifying the weak points attackers often exploit. Through real-world scenarios, the course shows how effective security depends on coordination across all levels of an enterprise.
Digital Forensics and Assisted Investigations
Learn how digital evidence is collected and analyzed to support audits, fraud cases, and investigations. Students explore how data from computers, media, and other devices can reveal patterns, timelines, and key details. The course focuses on practical techniques used to examine digital activity and support real-world investigations.
Data Security, Privacy, and Ethics in Cybersecurity
Explore how organizations protect sensitive data while managing privacy and ethical responsibilities. Students examine real-world cases to understand data security risks, data use, and the impact of decisions around sharing, ownership, and compliance. The course focuses on building responsible data practices in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
Data Mining and Predictive Analytics OR AI in Business
Choose your path:
Data Mining and Predictive Analytics: Learn how to explore and model large datasets to uncover patterns and insights that inform business decisions. Students apply techniques like forecasting, clustering, and regression using data from areas such as accounting, finance, and marketing.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business: Explore how AI is used across business functions to drive innovation and efficiency. Students gain hands-on experience with tools for text generation, chatbots, and data analysis while learning how to evaluate AI opportunities and apply them in real-world settings.
Why Siena for Cybersecurity?
At Siena University, students benefit from a personalized graduate experience backed by Siena’s AACSB-accredited School of Business, a distinction earned by fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide.
The program approaches cybersecurity as both a technical and organizational challenge, helping students understand how security decisions affect operations, reputation, compliance, and long-term success. Small classes and engaged faculty create a supportive environment where students can immediately connect concepts to real workplace challenges.
THE PROGRAM WILL EXPOSE STUDENTS TO THE LATEST BEST PRACTICES IN CYBERSECURITY THROUGH EXPERIENTIAL ENGAGEMENT WITH INDUSTRY EXPERTS. STUDENTS WILL GAIN HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IN DEVELOPING AND EXECUTING INTEGRATED STRATEGIES, POLICIES, AND SAFEGUARDS TO MANAGE RISKS ACROSS AN ORGANIZATION.”
