Alumni

Our alumni have been accepted in graduate programs at Boston University, NYU, Columbia, University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill, Brandeis, Northeastern University, Stony Brook, University at Albany and Albany Law among others. In addition to local and internships with the Unity House, the Albany Boys and Girls Club, New York State Department of Health, the Colonie Police Department, the Troy Record, the Children's Hospital at the Albany Medical Center, our students have done global internships in London, India, and Bolivia.

Nichole Moocz '14
B.A. Sociology, Minor in Criminal Justice, Honors Fellow, Siena College

After graduating from Siena in May 2014, Nichole began working as a paralegal with an immigration law office in Orange County, New York. She assisted immigrants with asylum, cancellation of removal, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, U visa, and citizenship cases. She currently works at a multi service law office where she provides services related to immigration petitions, real estate transactions, uncontested divorces, etc. Nichole planes to continue her education with a law degree.

Lakeisha Armstrong '13
B.A. Sociology, Siena College
M.A. Higher Education Administration, SUNY Stony Brook

After graduating from Siena in May 2013, Lakeisha enrolled in Stony Brook University's Higher Education Administration Master's program. Upon graduation in 2014, Lakeisha was offered the position of an EOP counselor at Morrisville State College. Her main responsibility is to assist students in their college transition and to help them achieve their academic, career, and personal goals. Lakeisha says, "I never thought I would be starting my dream career so soon."
 

Jack Mulvaney '13
B.A. Sociology, Siena College

After graduation, Jack joined an educational based non-profit, City Year, in Philadelphia. He is currently an Academic Coordinator with the Harlem Children's Zone, which has been widely recognized as the "national model for breaking the cycle of poverty." In Fall 2015, Jack will begin his Master's in Education through the New York City Teaching Fellows Program.
 

April Backus '12
B.A. Sociology, Minors in Criminal Justice and Political Science, Siena College

April Backus graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and minors in Criminal Justic and Political Science. April is Assistant Director with the Office of Academic Community Engagement (ACE) at Siena College. She was a member of the founding class of Siena Bonner Service Leaders. Throughout her four years in the program, she developed strategies for maintaining sustainable youth programs and guided her fellow Bonners through many trainings to hone their leadership skills. In her current position, she directs the Bonner Service Leaders Program and leads many new initiatives through the ACE Office. April is an expert on the Bonner student development model and works with the national Bonner Network to develop training modules for multiple campuses nation wide.

Olivia Bizovi '12
B.A. Sociology, Minor in Criminal Justice, Siena College
M.S. Intelligence Studies, Mercyhurst University

Olivia graduated from Siena in 2012 with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Criminal Justic. In 2012 Olivia joined the M.S. in Applied Intelligence program at Mercyhurst University, PA. She graduated with the M.S. in December 2014. Olivia currently works with the Washington / Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) in Greenbelt, MD. There are 28 HIDTAs around throughout the US -- they are federally funded programs that provide support to federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement. The W / B HIDTA covers Maryland, DC, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Hunter Harrison '11
B.A. Sociology, Siena College

After graduating from Siena, Huner worked in a school for disadvantaged youth in Albany, In 2012, he joined the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. Hunter has traveled the west coast during community projects with camps and non-profits and he WWOOF (work exchange in agriculture) has taken him to Florida. In 2014, Hunter joined the Peace Corps in Paraguay, where he is currently working in the area of environmental education and health.
 

Fabiano M. DeMelo Franco '10
B.A. Sociology, B.S. Management, Siena College
M.A. Socio-Ecological Economics, Vienna University of Economics and Business

Fabiano is currently finishing his Masters in Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Vienna, Austria. He is also working at the international Anti- Corruption Academy located in Laxenburg, Austria, a global frontrunner in anti- corruption education and research.
 

Ashley Jeffrey Bouck '04
B.A. Sociology, Siena College

Ashley Jeffrey Bouck became Executive Director of Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region in September 2012. She was named to Albany Business Review's class of 40 Under Forty in 2014 and later that same year, was honored by Albany-Colonie Chamber's Women's Business Council as a 2014 Woman of Excellence in the category of Emerging Professional. Ashley is currently the Vice President of the Capital Region Rotary Club, the Co-Chair for the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber's Women's Business Council's Women of Excellence Awards, a member of the Albany Promise 3rd & 4th Grade Task Force, and was recently appointed to the Girls Inc. National Strategic Planning Council. Always a supporter of the rights of girls and women, Ashley has been a panel member for Girl Model and Miss Representation. She also has served on the Board of the Albany chapter of Salvation Army.
