Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

For college students, that means a brief respite from studying to enjoy some family time, lots of food, and perhaps a Turkey Trot. (Or napping, that’s totally fine, too.)

Chances are, you already know the person in this month’s Siena alum Q&A.

You’ve probably seen her broadcasting the news on WNYT NewsChannel 13, or you definitely heard over the radio on “Chuck and Kelly” in the morning.

She’s the amazingly talented Kelly Lynch Wyland, a Siena grad from Clifton Park with a major in English—and the perfect example of how careers these days can take unexpected twists and turns, and how Saints are always prepared for exactly that.

Catching up with Siena graduates is basically a hobby for us. Because every time we chat with one, we’re inspired, we’re impressed and we love a good story.

And Kristina Ferrara ‘08, for example, has an awesome story.

In recent years, this area has received quite a bit of Hollywood attention with the amount of TV shows filmed in the Capital Region and throughout upstate NY.

But did ya know? Siena’s surroundings have long been attractive to movie producers—we’re talking way back to the 80s to today. And we love that. Because when it’s a little too chilly to hang outside or Saints just need to stop moving for a couple hours, students cluster together in the dorms and watch movie after movie like one big cozy family. (And sometimes, we get to be extras too.)
