Physics

Siena's physics program prepares students for a broad range of technical careers and its grads have many options. About one third pursue graduate work in physics, engineering, astronomy, and business. Grad schools include: Boston University, Dartmouth College, Duke, MIT, University of Washington and University of Maryland. A few become high school teachers, and the rest find employment in the technical workforce with job titles like: data science engineer, lab supervisor, test engineer, safety manager, production manager and research scientist.

Astrophysics

At Siena, your journey into the universe is more than just classroom learning – it’s an experience where you actively explore the cosmos. From day one, you’ll dive into world-class research, build programming skills, and observe the night sky using one of New York’s largest university-run telescopes, the Breyo Observatory. This is what makes Siena truly unique – hands-on learning where you’re at the forefront of discovery.

Applied Physics

Siena's Applied Physics major combines the rigorous fundamentals of physics with the practical problem-solving tools of engineering and applied science.  Students can choose a Mechanical or Electrical track and prepare for technical careers or advanced studies in physics, engineering, and related fields.

Applied Physics students also currently have access to Siena's accelerated 4+1 engineering pathway with Clarkson University, allowing qualified students to combine the Siena bachelor's degree with a master's degree in engineering.  

Engineering Physics

Siena's B.S. in engineering physics combines a strong foundation in physics and mathematics with engineering design, computation, laboratory investigation, and hands-on problem solving. Students choose a Mechanical Engineering or an Electrical Engineering track and develop the scientific understanding and practical skills needed to analyze, design, build, and test complex systems.

ASTRONOMY and Astrophysics Minor
