Adolescence Education: Mathematics, B.A. or B.S.

The Adolescence Education: Mathematics dual major is a track in Siena College’s nationally accredited Teacher Preparation Program. In order to be eligible for the Adolescence Education: Mathematics dual major, students must complete the education course requirements below and the requirements for one of the Mathematics, B.S. programs (See Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, B.S. - Education Track ) or one of the Mathematics, B.A. programs (See Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, B.A. - Education Track ). Students will need to maintain at least a 2.75 GPA in Mathematics, a 3.0 in Education, and an overall GPA of 2.75.

The Mathematics major provides students with the necessary content knowledge, and the Adolescence Education: Mathematics major provides students with the pedagogical knowledge required to teach Mathematics at the secondary level. When earned together, the dual major in Mathematics and Adolescence Education: Mathematics prepares students to meet the New York State Education Department program requirements for initial certification in Mathematics (grades 7-12).

Students who complete the Adolescence Education: Mathematics dual major program will earn a B.S. or B.A. degree with two majors, one in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics and another in Adolescence Education: Mathematics.
