Adolescence Education: Physics, B.S.

The Adolescence Education: Physics dual major is a track in Siena College’s nationally accredited Teacher Preparation Program. In order to be eligible for the Adolescence Education: Physics dual major, students must complete the education course requirements below and the requirements for the Physics, B.S.   or one of the Applied Physics, B.S. tracks (Applied Physics, B.S. Electrical Track  or Applied Physics, B.S. Mechanical Track ). Students will need to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in Physics, a 3.0 in Education, and an overall GPA of 2.75.

The Physics major provides students with the necessary content knowledge, and the Adolescence Education: Physics major provides students with the pedagogical knowledge required to teach Physics at the secondary level. When earned together, the dual major in Physics and Adolescence Education: Physics prepares students to meet the New York State Education Department program requirements for initial certification in Physics (grades 7-12).

Students who complete the Adolescence Education: Physics dual major will earn a B.S. degree with two majors, one in Physics or Applied Physics, and another in Adolescence Education: Physics.
