Students pursuing the Adolescence Education: Biology dual major must complete the requirements for the Biology, B.S.   and the requirements for the Adolescence Education: Biology, B.S.  major.  Included in these is EDUC 481 Instructional Theory & Practice in Inclusive Classrooms , which will be allowed to substitute for one elective course in biology.  Students seeking admission to the Biology certification sequence should be approved by both the Biology Department and the Education Department no later than the junior year.  Requirements for initial approval, as well as admission to the professional semester, will normally include a minimum GPA of 3.0 in biology, 2.75 overall, and demonstration of strong communication skills. Students seeking admission to the Biology Education Track must apply (and be approved) to the program their junior year.  Completing this dual major will prepare students for certification to teach in grades 7-12.  See the Education Department   for more details.
