This year's Summer Research Symposium will be held Thursday, September 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. on Nigro Plaza, in conjunction with the Welcome Back Reception and the Academic Convocation commemorating the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. Approximately 50 Saints will be presenting their research on topics such as the ethical implications of AI, improving water quality at a local lake, using digital motor metrics to analyze Parkinson's disease, and measuring local insect declines.
Dan Moriarty, Ph.D., professor of chemistry and biochemistry, oversees Summer Scholars as the director of CURCA.
"CURCA provides Siena students and their mentors with time and resources to dedicate to their research, and our Summer Research Symposium honors their hard work, " said Moriarty. "Having our campus and community show up to support these scholars, ask questions, and celebrate their discoveries makes an immense difference to everyone involved."
