Admissions

If you’ve officially joined the Class of 2024 (hopefully Siena’s!)—or even if you’re a high school junior who’s interested in learning more about the college process in general—you may be wondering…

After the deposit, what comes next?

For starters, we know that it’s probably hard to look forward to the future right now. As our country practices social distancing and waits for the pandemic to end, it can be tough to keep your spirits up—but remember, it’s only temporary. Soon enough, you’ll be off to college. So in the meantime, here are some suggestions on how to keep the celebrations going, get organized and get ready for the fall.

1. Make it social.

This is your moment! Reveal your choice and spread the word to family and friends on your social platforms. For all the Saints reading this, we whipped up these social graphics to make it easy. (And while you’re there, be sure to join the Siena Class of 2024 private Facebook group and follow @sienasaints2024 on Instagram.)

2. Look for virtual meetups.

Check your school’s website for opportunities to meet other admitted students virtually. These will be your best ways right now to make new friends so that come fall, you’ll see familiar faces on campus. And who knows? Maybe you’ll meet potential roommates. (Details on Siena’s #2024 meetups are up now!)

3. Thank your references.

Without them, you would've been missing a major part of your application. (Juniors, Siena requires a recommendation letter from a school counselor.) Send an email—or even better, a handwritten note—to say thank you for writing such a stellar recommendation. They’ll appreciate your gratitude more than you know.

4. Notify colleges you didn't choose.

To be fair to the other schools on your list—and to the admissions counselors who helped you along the way—write a quick email informing them of your decision. Something as simple as, "Thank you for your consideration, but I have decided to attend [college name here] this fall," works perfectly.

5. Hit the bookstore.

For obvious reasons, you’ll have to do this virtually for now. But still, start stocking up on gear and wear it with pride! Saints: want 20% off a single apparel or gift item + free shipping? Visit this link, enter your email address and activation code Admitted2020, then use the unique code you receive for your discount.

6. Complete all required forms.

Before you arrive on campus later this year, you'll have to submit your housing application, health forms and so on. Stay on top of these deadlines to guarantee you don't have any issues come August. (Find your Siena-specific checklist right here.)

7. Keep looking for scholarships.

Some scholarship applications extend all the way through the summer, so it definitely isn't too late to look for some additional opportunities to secure some funding. Check out Unigo and Fastweb to start with—we see a few right now that award as much as $6,000. Good luck!
