With the launch of Siena’s new MBA program—which gives Siena freshmen the opportunity to earn their bachelor’s degree AND an MBA in their four years here—there’s been a huge surge of interest in our business programs. One question we hear often: which business major is right for me?

As early as freshman year in high school, students are encouraged to get involved in extracurricular activities for a lot of reasons. Joining clubs and/or sports teams, volunteering at local organizations, and so on are all fantastic ways to make new friends, explore or discover your interests and perhaps share your strengths and skills with others. You’ve also no doubt heard that, “they’re great for your college application.”

At this year’s Open House, we gave students and their families the opportunity to attend three sessions from a list of 38. We had deep dives into specific majors, a presentation on the liberal arts advantage, a discussion on hands-on learning and so much more. Every session was a hit!

One of the most popular sessions, though, was an alumni panel we held twice in a row. Six local graduates with impressive careers and fond memories of Siena talked about what they loved most about their time as a Saint, how the Siena experience led to where they are now, and much more before fielding questions from students and parents in the audience.

Between student groups and campus events, courses and open-mic nights, your college years can be a prime time for exploring your long-standing love of music or discovering a passion you’ve never had before. At Siena College, in particular, it’s a fantastic place to stop watching The Voice and start hearing your own.

In our research series, we sit down with several of Siena’s Summer Scholars—student researchers who are paid for their work through Siena’s renowned Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity, aka CURCA. And we’re doing so because 1) their research is fascinating, and 2) for high school students, “doing research in college” might not be super clear. So our goal is to demystify the concept and show you what it really looks like.

Siena has just signed two innovative early assurance agreements with Capital Region schools to secure their eligible students a seat in Siena’s future freshman classes.

The Siena MBA has arrived, and our AACSB-accredited School of Business could not be more excited to show the community what’s in store for our new program. For starters, in addition to inviting ambitious, capable grad students to apply for a full-time or part-time capacity, we’re also giving Siena freshmen the chance to earn their bachelor’s and MBA in four years.

Research is the name of the game at college—and it involves a lot more than Googling stuff or going to the library. Students at Siena are making discoveries, inventing new things, solving problems, presenting their research at conferences and getting published. But what does research really look like? If you’re like most high school students, the concept of research is still a little unclear. That’s why we’re using our blog to unmask what research really means—and how it can seriously shape our world.

Fresh off the graduation stage, they’re the ones who have nothing to lose in telling the truth and a lot of perspective on their experiences now that it’s time for them to move forward in the working world.
