Spark Tank

Spark Tank is a biannual competition sponsored by the Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Siena College.

Spark Tank is an idea contest.  It is co-sponsored by the Stack Center and the Entrepreneurship Club. Any current Siena student (or group of students) is eligible to enter the contest. In addition, Spark Tank takes place once a semester. You may have students from the Accelerate518 ecosystem as we value an interdisciplinary and balanced team.  You can work with the staff at the Stack Center for assistance and feedback on your pitch.

It's a great opportunity for your business idea to receive expert advice and feedback! Also the top three teams in each track will win cash prizes!

Spark Tank Spring 2022 will be held in person on Thursday, March 31st. Welcome and kickoff starts at 5:30pm in Roger Bacon Hall, Key Auditorium.

Teams can register to pitch by emailing stackcenter@siena.edu.  Deadline to get your team on the competition schedule is: Monday, March 21st.

Winning teams will be announced at the event and posted on the Stack Center Instagram page @stackcenter

Sixteen teams of student entrepreneurs pitched their business ideas to a panel of seasoned entrepreneurs. The top three teams (pictured) won prize money to further their business.

First Place - $500. Joshua Daly. Bug Flusher is an insect trap that performs as a protein gathering device for poultry.

Second Place - $300. Sureet Pabbi. Amar Atta is a 100% gluten free chapati flour designed to promote a new healthier alternative to flour in Indian cuisine.

Third Place - $200. Nicholas Darling and Christian Zownir. The Taurus Ready Heater defrosts and warms up a car without having to start the car. The product functions as an alternative to heating your car with gasoline.

Collab - First Place Fall 2017

Collab is an app that allows classmates to chat anonymously with students within their courses. Team members: Mike Salvador, Sam Doyle, Christian Zownir, Nick Micare, Yumi Kageyama, Brian Pawloski.

Abroad Made Easy - Second Place Fall 2017

Abroad Made Easy is an all-in-one app for students studying abroad that connects them with each other and their school to help keep them safe. Team members: Solomon John, Quinton Gardner, Robert Bebber, Katie Hiag  

Sundial (1st Place 2016) is a solar-powered wrist watch with "one-for-one" social mission involving SELF (solar electric light fund). 

Finest Tide Oysters (2nd place 2016) will develop a sustainable Oyster Farm in mid-Atlantic region. The founder of Finest Tide Oysters has already worked at farms in LI Sound.

ORO (Operating Room Optimizer) (3rd place 2016) is a scheduling application to improve operating room efficiency and profitability within hospitals. ORO has applied to VentureWell and has received written letter of support from Mike F for grant application.

ThinkBoard (3rd Place 2016) turns any flat surface into a whiteboard. It has developed initial products and is already selling. 

Bakin (1st Place 2015) is a mobile platform enabling users non-exclusive, location-based searching for car shows and other automobile-related events. 

TeachMe (2nd place 2015) is a mobile app providing dancers videos with accurate references of choreography for practicing, particularly useful when the student misses a lesson. 

Helpir (how every little problem is resolved) (3rd place 2015) is a community resource for residential maintenance and repairs. 

Don't Be A Bully - Third Place Fall 2017

Don't Be A Bully is an anti-cyberbullying software that allows parents to monitor their children on their mobile devices using keyword recognition. Team members: Nick Darling, Hunter Jackson, Christian Zownir.
