Studying business at Siena, you'll learn in small classes with direct access to your professors. You'll get hands-on experiences in our state-of-the-art Hickey Financial Technology Center, Raub Trading Room, and Alonge Accounting Lab. You'll conduct and present undergraduate research, publish papers, and attend national conferences. And, you will take internships and you'll participate in projects that support local nonprofit organizations.

Internships at Siena University prepare students to enter the workforce with confidence, experience, and professional connections.

Students interested in entrepreneurship can turn ideas into action through competitions, recognition programs, and student organizations designed to support innovation and business creation through our Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Opportunities Include:

  • Spark Tank – A biannual pitch competition where students present business or product ideas to entrepreneurs and compete for cash prizes.

  • Maddalone Wall of Success – Celebrates Siena alumni entrepreneurs whose success inspires future Saints, located in the Stack Center.

  • Civitella Entrepreneurial Awards – Annual awards honoring Siena-affiliated and community entrepreneurs who reflect Siena values and make a positive impact.

  • Entrepreneurship Club – Connect with faculty and staff who have real-world startup experience and explore what it means to be your own boss.

Undergraduate research gives students the opportunity to work closely with faculty while strengthening skills in inquiry, analysis, communication, and teamwork. Research experiences help students gain independence, learn from challenges, and develop confidence as critical thinkers.

Research at Siena empowers students to explore ideas, build expertise, and engage deeply in the process of discovery.

Study abroad EXPL opportunities allow business students to gain global experience while earning academic credit. These programs through our Center for International Programs combine professional development with international exposure to prepare students for a global marketplace.

Study Abroad Programs for Business Students

Semester Programs:

Summer Programs:

  • Any internship abroad for academic credit in a business-related field

Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA for internship programs

  • Good academic and social standing

  • Must be a junior to participate in internship abroad programs

Program Costs & Financial Support

  • Semester abroad students pay normal Siena tuition

  • Summer programs are an out-of-pocket expense

  • Scholarships are available to help support study abroad participation

AACSB accreditation plays a key role in Siena’s school of Business by strengthening its ability to thrive in an increasingly competitive higher education landscape. Of more than 16,000 schools granting degrees in business, fewer than five percent have earned AACSB accreditation. This means that our faculty meet very high standards in teaching and research.

 The accreditation process encourages Siena to continually refine its mission, clearly define its target student populations, and align its academic and strategic priorities in ways that distinguish the School of Business and reinforce its commitment to excellence, experiential learning, and ethical leadership.

SEE SAINTS' STORIES

KAITY WARD '25

Kaity '25 graduated with a B.S. in Marketing and went on to pursue her MBA with a concentration in Marketing. As an undergraduate, she worked with the School of Business as a Social Media Marketing and Communications Intern for three years. She now serves on the executive board of the Siena Graduate Student Association. Through connections made during her time at Siena, she secured her current role as a Communications Coordinator with the New York State Assembly Minority Conference. In this position, she manages communications for several members, including press releases, constituent correspondence, social media, and email outreach.

Kaden Han

Kaden is an accounting major enrolled in the 3+1 accelerated pathway to earn his Master of Science in Accounting. Within the Siena community, he serves as a Community Assistant, where he fosters a supportive residential environment by assisting students, organizing community-building events, and promoting campus safety and well-being. Kaden has immersed himself in the School of Business through active involvement in Beta Alpha Psi where he helps provide free tax preparation services to low-income individuals, and Delta Sigma Pi, where he serves as Vice President of Finance in the professional business fraternity. Through these roles, he continues to build leadership experience while deepening his engagement with accounting, finance, and the broader business community.

Kailey Zarrello '28

Kailey '28, a marketing major, concentrating in Sports Marketing and Digital Marketing. She is deeply involved in the Siena community, serving as the Marketing Chair for Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity, while also working as a Community Assistant and contributing to the Admissions Marketing Department on campus. Through these roles, Kailey has gained hands-on experience in brand communication, content creation, and strategic outreach — skills she continues to build in the School of Business. She is currently applying her classroom knowledge in a real-world setting as a Media Intern for the Albany Firebirds, where she supports digital content and team marketing initiatives. Kailey is passionate about combining sports and digital strategy, and she hopes to continue building a career at the intersection of marketing, media, and athletics.
