narcan overdose emergency box

Narcan now available on Campus:

In collaboration with the Albany County Department of Health, Siena University has recently enhanced access to naloxone, commonly known as Narcan.

Siena has installed a dedicated housing unit in the Sarazen Student Center near the ATM.

This unit is fully stocked with the life-saving medication. Naloxone is critical in reversing the potentially fatal effects of an opioid overdose. This initiative aims to proactively increase naloxone availability and is not a response to any specific incident or trend on campus. Research consistently highlights the life-saving potential of making naloxone easily accessible.

As a reminder, when administering NARCAN

on campus:
  • call Public Safety at 518-783-2999  for an expedited and coordinated emergency response.
off campus
  • Call 911

Those who call for help and persons experiencing an overdose will both be granted certain protections by the Siena Univeristy Welfare of the Community (Amnesty) policy and New York State Law.
