Student Engagement:

Siena College prides itself on our highly engaged student body. Please encourage your student to become involved in activities such as student-run clubs and organizations, intramural and club sports, spiritual and religious groups, health and wellness groups, and even on-campus employment opportunities.  Engaged students demonstrate high satisfaction and success academically and personally.  You can begin to explore the many involvement opportunities on campus by going to Saints Connect.

 Parent Liaison:

Adam Casler, the Associate Vice President for Student Life/Dean of Students (518-783-2328 or acasler@siena.edu) serves as the primary resource where you can share concerns ranging from your student’s general well-being and adjustment issues, to emotional or behavioral difficulties. Adam, J. Bebb, Senior Associate Dean of Students (518-783-2328 or jbebb@siena.edu), or Moddie Linen, Assistant Dean of Students (518-783-2328 or mlinen@siena.edu) will work with the appropriate persons on campus to follow up with your concern. We are more than happy to discuss disciplinary issues with you. However, we will ask for a signed release from your student to speak with you except in situations where the health or safety of the community may be compromised. For additional information, click here.

Public Safety/ Emergency Text Notification System (Siena Alert):

Siena College strives to provide a safe campus environment. The Department of Public Safety is open 24/7, every day of the year.  Ron Matos, Assistant Vice President for Student Life/Director of Public Safety (518-783-2376 or rmatos@siena.edu) is available to answer your questions or concerns.  We highly encourage you to have your child sign up for our text alert system.

 Community Standards:

Siena educates students with a comprehensive and consistent message regarding consequences associated with high-risk drinking and drug use.  Siena College also provides prevention information, ongoing assistance and support to promote an environment where sexual misconduct and harassment is not tolerated. Students will receive email instructions to complete online training in these areas prior to the start of classes.  The Siena Life handbook (www.siena.edu/sienalife) outlines all of the policies and procedures, as well as the rights and responsibilities of each student as a member of the Siena community.  By giving you this information now, it is our hope that you will review it together, communicate expectations, and discuss strategies for your student to make safe and respectful decisions.
