On a Franciscan Pilgrimage to Italy, President Chuck Seifert and his wife Deb, joined by Siena Friars as well as members of the Siena Board of Trustees, were granted a private audience with Pope Francis. Fr. Michael Perry, O.F.M., Franciscan Scholar in Residence and director of the Laudato Si’ Center for Integral Ecology, arranged the visit. Fr. Michael presented Pope Francis with this letter, below, highlighting the work of the Laudato Si’ Center and promoting a two-day symposium on sustainability and integral ecology, to be hosted by Siena this October, titled An Unjust Crisis: Responding to the Cries of our Poor and our Planet.
