Siena Dining Services has signed on with GrubHub as a more effective mainstream solution for mobile ordering and pick up options on campus.

Starting immediately, all Saints can log onto their GrubHub accounts and add Siena as an affiliation.  Simply go to GrubHub and select “Account” on the bottom far right of the screen. Press “Campus Dining” and follow the prompts to complete your set up.

While GET Food was a good solution for mobile ordering during the pandemic, it had not proven to be the best long-term solution for the Siena community, according to Rachel Miller, senior director of dining services.

“We needed a better over-all experience for our campus,” said Miller.

Dining Services, with a major assist from the Student Senate, explored exactly what students, faculty and staff were looking for in a food-ordering app to make the best choice.

GrubHub allows the Siena community to use meal plans (Meal Swipes, Bonus Dollars), Saint Plan money or a credit card to order from the following campus locations and pick up at a designated time:

  • Starbucks in the SSU
  • Massry Breakfast, Quesadillas, Homestyle, and Bernie’s Bowls
  • Piazza

“We’ve already seen a steep curve toward a more positive experience from programming the menus and testing the equipment,” said Miller. “Customers are able to follow their orders and know exactly when they are ready for pick up.”

She explained that GrubHub utilizes an algorithm that sets the pace for ordering, rather than the GET app, where the ordering queue could fill up and not be able to accept more orders.

“That was a frustrating experience for students.  With GrubHub, they can see where they are in that invisible line.”

“I’m grateful for the open communication with our Student Senate on this upgrade and for Siena’s flexibility in allowing positive change for their students.  I truly believe we will be able to provide a better ordering experience in these locations,” she said.

Student Sente President Luke Keith ’24 welcomed the opportunity for student leaders to assist Siena Dining in choosing the new app.

“The addition of GrubHub will further enhance the dining experience for all of our community members,” he said. “We were grateful to work with Rachel and her team; she puts in so much effort to create a better experience for our students and the implementation of the GrubHub app is just one example of the positive changes she has implemented.”
