The Scottish Highlands cover nearly 10,000 square miles in northern Scotland. The region is home to arresting scenery and the legendary Loch Ness, a large freshwater lake that may or may not be home to a monster of the same name. Aliyah Augustin '22 didn't spot the famous sea creature, but she did marvel at the countryside.

Aliyah is studying at the University of Glasgow, where she's taking politics and French classes. She will graduate next spring as an Honors Fellow.

"I have absolutely adored Scotland and everything it has to offer. I’ve wanted to go there for years and I’m very happy to say that I have. The three months I have had here have taught me so much about the history, culture, and community of others, but mainly the experience has taught me so much about myself. I have been independent, exploring constantly, and taking every opportunity granted to me. I’ve been able to travel around Scotland and the UK, specifically visiting the Scottish Highlands which has been the highlight of my time here. Without a doubt I recommend everyone to study abroad, maybe in Scotland or maybe not, but just to take the opportunity if you’re able because it is a once in a lifetime experience! "
