Siena’s School of Business is announcing three new graduate program additions, including its third master’s degree.

The College was recently approved by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to offer the following:

  • Master of science in business analytics
  • Advanced graduate certificate in strategic management
  • Advanced graduate certificate in marketing

Students may enroll starting this academic year.

The M.S. in business analytics is geared to educate current and future professionals to tackle complex problems that lie at the intersection of business, societal concerns, data, analytics, and technology, according to Necip Doganaksoy, Ph.D., director of the proposal and professor of accounting and business law.

“The program is driven by business applications and problems, and adopts a pragmatic and applied approach to teaching,” said Doganaksoy. “It will provide a strong foundation in the methods, tools, and software of analytics, as well as communication, team, project, and organizational management skills necessary to apply them.”

The degree will provide a comprehensive understanding of information systems, data management, data visualization, statistical and machine learning for predictive model building, and advisory and optimization systems in such business functions as risk management, auditing, fraud and forensics, marketing, human resources, and supply-chain.

The School of Business expects to enroll about 15 students in first year, with enrollment at 35 within five years. Required courses will be offered in person and online. They include 18 credits of core courses, six credits (two electives) from the MBA core curriculum, 12 credits (four electives) of analytics courses, plus a capstone course.

Also recently approved by NYSED are two new advanced certificate programs in strategic management, and marketing.

The strategic management certificate focuses on developing knowledge of decision making, change management, and strategic planning, in order to prepare professionals to think strategically and lead organizations in ways that promote sustainable change. The marketing certificate is designed in response to the demand for professionals equipped with current tools and concepts of marketing practice. The program is focused on strategic applications of marketing knowledge in functional areas such as customer relationship development, customer insight development, digital analytics techniques and strategic brand management.

These two new advanced certificate programs join three others currently being offered by the College: cybersecurity, fraud and digital forensics, and data and analytics.
