Do you think you have what it takes to be a role model? Have you ever considered making a difference in the lives of young children and helping them become future leaders? If so, come and ‘blaze the trails’ with our ACE Trailblazers Program. Learn valuable skills, build your resume, and get paid to make a difference in the community.

What we do

The ACE Trailblazers Program invites Siena College students to engage middle-school aged children in an after-school program, providing inner-city youth with the skills they need to become leaders in the community. The college students meet with the youth twice a week and spend another day of the week planning the training they will provide the middle school students with. Trailblazers is a unique program that is founded on William Sedlacek’s 8 Non-Cognitive Indicators of Success:

  1. Positive Self-Concept
  2. Realistic Self-Appraisal
  3. Prefers Long-Range Goals
  4. Availability of a Strong Support Person
  5. Successful Leadership Experience
  6. Community
  7. Nontraditional Knowledge Acquired
  8. Understanding the Importance of Diversity

The Trailblazers Program aims to allow the students, both Siena and middle school students to experience each one of these indicators during their time in the program and create the leaders of tomorrow. We are currently serving grades 6-8 in North Albany Academy.
