International Baccalaureate (IB)
International Baccalaureate Higher Level examinations will be received for credits for scores of 5 or better. No credit is awarded for Standard Level examinations. Courses are recommended to the appropriate school dean for acceptance as transfer credit, on a course-by-course basis, to a maximum of 30 credits.

College Courses taken in High School
Students who complete appropriate college courses for credit during high school may also transfer this credit to Siena.  To begin the process of credit evaluation, the student should request an official transcript from the originating college or university and have it mailed to the Siena College Registrar’s Office, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.

The Assistant Dean for Student Services evaluates the coursework and notifies students through email whether or not the credits will transfer.  A grade of ‘C’ or higher is required.  Once the course work and grades are found acceptable, the Transfer Credit Evaluations are submitted to the Registrar’s Office for processing and a copy emailed to the student.

Transfer Students who have completed a semester or more at another college or university
As part of the transfer application process, students submit official transcripts from all schools they have attended. Transfer students are contacted shortly after they have confirmed their acceptance and individual meetings are arranged between each student and the Assistant Dean for Student Services.  At this meeting, transfer credits are discussed and a plan devised for the completion of the Siena degree within the student’s major (and certificate and/or minor as declared.) Transfer credit will be given only for those courses in which at least a C- grade has been earned and that are similar in content, level, and scope to courses offered at Siena. Siena will accept a total of 75 credits from four-year institutions. A maximum of 66 credits may be transferred from accredited two-year institutions.

Matriculated Liberal Arts Siena students transferring credit to Siena
To insure transferability, Liberal Arts students request approval to transfer credits before enrolling in the class by completing the Transfer Permission Credit Form and submitting it to the School of Liberal Arts Office. On-line as well as on-campus courses from accredited schools can be considered for transfer credit. Please note that courses from community colleges can transfer in as only 100 or 200 level courses.  Students who are looking to transfer in an upper level course (300 or 400 level), must complete the course at a four year school.  After the course is completed and you have earned a final grade of ‘C’ or higher, please request an official transcript be mailed to the Siena College Registrar’s Office, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY  12211.

Once students matriculate at Siena, students are permitted to transfer in up to 18 additional credits, to a maximum of 75. Any exceptions must be pre-approved by the School Dean. This limit of transfer credits does not apply to credits earned from Study Abroad programs. The maximum total of transfer credits is 75.

Students must complete at least half of their major/minor at Siena or through a Siena Study Abroad program.
