Are Siena community members required to be vaccinated? 

The COVID vaccination series and boosters are strongly recommended for students and employees. Some academic experiences or programs, including clinical settings, study abroad or internships, may require the COVID-19 vaccination for eligibility to participate.

Are masks currently required on the Siena campus? 

Anyone who would prefer to wear a mask in any setting is welcome to do so. Community members should evaluate their personal comfort level based on individual circumstances.  See CDC guidance on masks for additional information. 

Students are required to mask during their scheduled appointment in Health Services. 

Faculty members, at their own discretion, may require masking in classrooms, laboratories, or other instructional settings. 

Is testing being done on campus?

Health Services will offer diagnostic testing for all students who present symptoms. Students are encouraged to have their own supply of home tests with them on campus. 

Do i need to isolate if i test positive for covid-19?

On March 1st, 2024, the CDC issued updated guidelines for COVID -19.  According to the CDC’s updated guidance, people with respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19 will No longer need to isolate for 5 days before returning to work or school. People with respiratory illnesses may resume normal activities when for at least 24 hours, both are true:

1. Your symptoms are getting better overall, and 

2. You are fever-free without the use of fever reducing medications.  The CDC recommends that when you go back to your normal activities you take added precaution over the next 5 days. Please click here for additional guidance 

What should I do if I develop symptoms consistent with COVID?
  • Guests should refrain from visiting campus if symptomatic.
  • Any employee who develops symptoms consistent with COVID should get tested.  If an employee tests positive, they should inform Cynthia King-LeRoy at kingleroy@siena.edu
  • Students  DO NOT need to inform Health Services of their positive test.  
Class attendance for covid-19 positive individuals:

Students who test positive for COVID-19 should notify each of their faculty if they will need to miss class.  As is the case with any illness, students should communicate directly with their faculty members and be prepared to get any materials they need to stay current in their classes.
