Stay connected to friends and family

Make sure you make the time to check in with your support network. Share a virtual meal, play some online Uno, STAY CONNECTED! Social support is very important in times of stress.

Get outside

Get some fresh air, take a brisk walk, and make some time to connect with nature. Although it is important to be mindful of our physical space, we can still get outside in safe ways.

Keep a structured routine

When dealing with any sort of challenge a structured routine can be very helpful. This includes setting a regular bedtime and wake up time. Structuring meals, work time and breaks can also help create a sustainable routine.

Channel your energy toward a creative endeavor

Find yourself with extra time? Channel your energy into something new and enjoyable such as learning a foreign language, growing something, cooking a new cuisine. What about catching up on all the books you’ve wanted to read but haven’t had time for.

Limit time spent on news

Set limits on the amount of time you spend on news sites and be picky about your sources. It is a fine line between being informed and being all consumed. No one can set these limits for yourself, but you!

Take time for self-care

In these uncertain times, it is important to take care of our mind, body and spirit. Make sure to nurture your body with sleep, exercise and nourishing food. Nurture your mind, by connecting with others and engaging in positive outlets (journaling, painting, dancing). Nourish your spirit by expressing and celebrating your faith. Remember to treat yourself and others with compassion in these trying times.

Counseling appointments

We are still open! For additional support, counseling appointments are available for Siena Students by phone or ZOOM, if needed. All Counseling Center employees are working remotely, so to schedule an appointment, leave a message at the main number (518-783-2342), and someone will return your call within 24 hours.
