1. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a teacher. Not because I love children or because I wanted to impart wisdom on young minds - I just wanted to use the pens that my teachers wrote with. The pen wrote in blue ink on one end, and red on the other. I really, really wanted one of those pens, but my mom told me that only teachers could have them.
  2. I have had the same pen pal since I was 10 years old. We went to school together from kindergarten through 4th grade which is when I moved away. While we follow each other on social media, we decided that we enjoyed writing and mailing letters to each other. We write to each other on our birthdays and Christmas.
  3. Many years ago, my mother insisted that I meet the cute, fresh out of college boy that had just started working in her office. I ignored her for as long as I could until one night I went to an after-work party with her. I met him and everything my mother told me about him was true. The cute boy proposed to me three years later and we celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary in April.
  4. Both of my children are proud Siena graduates. Jack in ’18 and Adam in ’21. Jack graduated with his MBA from NYU and married his high school sweetheart in December 2023. They live in the East Village of NYC. Adam is a marketing director in Albany and is engaged to his longtime girlfriend and they are getting married in 2026.
  5. After high school I completed one semester of college. I didn’t like the school and I didn’t like my major. I decided to work full-time while I figured things out. I eventually went back to school at night. It took me nine years of night school to earn my degree. During those nine years, I got married, had two children and worked full-time. There were so many times that I wanted to give up but I didn’t. I couldn’t have done it without the unwavering support of my husband, parents, in- laws and my boss at the time.
  6. I love Halloween. Starting on October 1, my entire front lawn and most of the inside of my house is transformed into something spook-tacular. Twenty plus years ago, my family started trick-or-treating with another family in our neighborhood. That became an annual tradition that grew over the years that included trick-or-treating and a Halloween party on Halloween night that continues to this day. I love when people come to my house trick-or-treating and they tell me that they come every year to see my decorations. My best Halloween memory was when my doorbell rang during my party. I assumed it was a trick-or-treater. I opened the door and there was a cameraman from NewsChannel 13 asking if he and Dan Levy could use my lawn as a back drop for a news story! My party was moved to my driveway so we could watch them shoot the story!
  7. I have always loved the theater, but never really had anyone go with. Luckily, my daughter-in-law loves Broadway, and since she and my son moved to NYC, I have been able to see many great shows with her. In the past several months we have seen The Cursed Child, Once Upon a Mattress and Death Becomes Her. We have plans to see the musical Boop and the play John Proctor is the Villain in the near future.
  8. I am an avid doll collector, primarily of vintage Barbie dolls from the 60s, 70s and early 80s. I have about 400 dolls which are on display in my husband’s former home office. I love that my family and friends are always on the lookout for dolls for me. I have had many friends and family give me their childhood dolls because they didn’t want them, but didn’t want to get rid of them. Last year for my birthday, my cousin gifted me a Barbie case that contained 5 early 1960s Barbie dolls, lots of clothes and accessories. Some of the accessories included a doctor’s bag with a small water bottle and a stethoscope and boxing gloves for Ken. It was such an amazing gift!
  9. One of my favorite things to do on a half day Friday or Saturday morning is to go to garage sales, flea markets and estate sales. You never know what you will find and I usually can find some Halloween decorations and the occasional Barbie!
  10. If you visit me in my office, you will see my picture wall. On my wall are pictures of every student that has either worked for me or I have come to know in the Admissions office. I love to look at the pictures to remember former students and the times that we shared over the four years that they are with me. It means so much to me when a current or former student reaches out to me out of the blue, usually to tell me that they heard my favorite song, which is "September" by Earth Wind and Fire, or they heard my least favorite song – "Piano Man" (don’t hate me, but that song is like listening to nails on a chalk board).  I love Billy Joel but just not that song. Or the best is when a student reaches out to me to share something good that has happened in their lives. Many times the conversation will end with – "I knew you would want to know” or “I couldn’t wait to tell you.” That’s the best!
