- I was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland. We lived within walking distance from
University of Warsaw where I went to college and got a master’s degree in
philosophy. My first job in college was teaching English as a second language. - During college, I spent a year living and working in London. There I met my
future husband Bill, who is from Albany (and a Siena grad). After returning to our
respective countries, we wrote handwritten letters to each other for 2 years
before switching to email. We still have the letters which are like museum pieces
now. - Bill wins a contest for the most romantic marriage proposal. While visiting me in
Poland, he proposed in Polish during a sleigh ride in the mountains. We will
celebrate our 25th anniversary next year. - I enjoy hiking and cross-country skiing and I love the Adirondacks. Lake Placid is
my favorite vacation spot. When I first moved here, I thought I might become an
Adirondack 46-er. I’m a 6-er for now. - To say I’m a cat person is an understatement. My first American cat, The Stripe,
lived to be almost 20. Now I adore my all-black cat Shadow. For many years, I
volunteered at a PetSmart cat adoption center. - I make over 100 pierogies for Christmas every year. I don’t enjoy the process but
feel the sense of accomplishment when I’m done. And I have all the yummy
pierogies to eat. - I like walking on golf courses and have been to the course in Scotland where the
game was born but I have no interest in actually playing golf. I keep the walk
unspoiled that way. - I’ve been fortunate to work for two organizations whose mission I identify with:
Siena and The College of Saint Rose. I worked in HR at Saint Rose for 15 years
before coming to Siena last summer. - I don’t eat any white food as a rule. Yes, I know it’s weird.
- One of my favorite things to do is to sit with a good book and a piece of
chocolate… with my cat on my lap, of course.
