- The best feeling at the end of a stressful day? Throwing a bar over your head. I like to lift, heavy. My deadlift PR is 235 pounds and I’d love to get back to that place some day. My coach, Darlene, is helping me work on that…
- The other side of that coin? I received my 200-hour Hatha yoga certification through the Yoga Vidya Academy. Finishing this remotely during the pandemic was a unique experience, but we made the most of it, and had the best teachers to guide us - Lauren, Meghan, and Martha were simply amazing. The timing also afforded me the opportunity to take some additional meditation courses. All of these skills come in handy, and while I’m not actively practicing, yoga is part of everything I do and regularly brings me back to center.
- Although I am a cat person, I do consider myself dog-adjacent. We have two furry loves at home, Diego and Greta, and they came to us as non-dog kitties…so, our home remains as such. However, my sister has two goldens and we served together on the board of a community-based dog rescue, helping local pups find their fur-ever homes. Therefore, dog-adjacent works.
- My husband and I went ice skating for our first date, and I grew up on figure skates, but I haven’t been on skates in years since I sprained my ankle and fractured it during the pandemic (darn that pandemic). A future goal is to get back on skates!
- Rick and I love to travel, but our favorite getaway is to the ocean, specifically York, Maine. We love it so much, we got married there and some of our dearest family friends live there. It’s the best little town to run away to, regardless of the season.
- During my career, I was a middle and high school English teacher. While I often tend to catch myself proofreading out of habit these days, I also tend to be lazy and break the rules.
- I like rocks. And shells. A lot. I’ve been known to find a treasure or two in my pocket after a walk, and I cannot pass a rock or shell store without stopping to check it out.
- Our backyard garden is our solace. I enjoy spending time working on our perennial beds, sitting and watching the hummingbirds, and planting and tending vegetables lovingly started and shared by friends. It’s been a labor of love rekindled in the past few years.
- I enjoy all different genres of music. Spending summer evenings listening to SPAC concert music drifting in through my bedroom window as a kiddo influenced my love of music, and my dad singing Frank Sinatra when he cooked, especially around the holidays helped, too. You can usually tell my mood based on the type of music I’m listening to.
- I spend a lot of time in the car. Between my hour commute and recruiting travel, I’ve tacked on many miles over the years! It’s my thinking spot, my music spot, and my Calgon-take-me-away spot. The car may change, but having the ability to go where you want to go (aka, drive to the ocean in just under four hours) is a lovely thing I do not take for granted!
