Accounting best practices always involve a thorough examination of the data. So it's only right that ACCT 490 students examine their international accounting material, while international.

Led by Elena Isaacson, Ph.D., assistant professor, eleven accounting students traveled to London and Amsterdam to engage with organizations, firms, and businesses on international accounting. Their 11-day adventure in late May aimed to broaden their knowledge on the topic, while exploring new perspectives and growing their network to include global contacts.

The students deepened their understanding of the audit profession in the UK and Netherlands and the impacts of artificial intelligence and new technologies in audit and accounting. The Saints visited PwC in London and Mazars in Amsterdam and carved out time for sightseeing as well. They visited the British Parliament, the British Museum, Emirates Stadium (the home of Arsenal Football Club), The Hague, and much more.

"I was very intrigued to see how accounting firms are operated in another country. Because they follow different accounting standards, we learned how that affects day-to-day accounts in Europe. Also, they have a very different work-life balance, so it was interesting to hear how much vacation time they get, while not having to work 40+ hours a week. My favorite part of the experience, though, was sight-seeing. I had never been overseas before, so it was nice to be able to explore at my own pace!"
