Why Did Siena Remove the Application Fee?
Application fees have been part of the college admissions process for decades, but Siena believes it is time to rethink that approach.
Every application still requires time, care, and resources to review. Siena is simply choosing not to pass that cost along to students and families. It is our responsibility to get to know you, not ask you to pay before you have had the chance to get to know us.
What Does the Application Process Look Like at Siena?
Beginning August 1, undergraduate students can apply to Siena University for free through the Common Application or the Siena Express Application. The application is automatically free. There is no fee waiver to request and no extra step required.
You can submit your application first and continue working through your remaining materials afterward. Essays, test scores, and letters of recommendation are optional, although we recommend including anything that helps us better understand your experiences, strengths, and goals.
Every application receives the same thoughtful, holistic review. Siena considers the full application to get to know the whole person, not just a grade, test score, or one part of an academic record. The only thing we have removed is the fee.
Once your application is complete, you will typically receive an admission decision within five business days. You can then explore scholarships and financial aid, connect with your admissions counselor, and continue learning about life at Siena.
