Siena College held its 78th Commencement ceremony at Albany's Times Union Center on Sunday, May 13.

Bachelor's degrees were awarded to 767 graduates; 59 received an M.S. in accounting.

The featured speaker was Gerald "Jerry" DeFrancisco '68, former president of humanitarian services for the American Red Cross. He helped transform the governance, service delivery processes and organizational structure for Red Cross humanitarian outreach. Among his most notable efforts was leading recovery after Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy.

DeFrancisco received an honorary doctorate of humane letters at the ceremony.

Senior class President Meaghan Sollitto ’18 and Samantha Sattler ’18 addressed their fellow graduates.

Other Commencement-related events were held on the Siena campus on Saturday, May 12, including the first-ever nurses pinning ceremony at Siena. Twelve graduates received Siena's first B.S. in nursing degrees.
