School of Business, Marketing

Bobby Roemer '21 doesn't work on Sunday mornings, but he still shows up to the job site.

Roemer grew up attending Mass at St. Pius X in Loudonville with his family. He volunteered as an altar server and as a sacristan, and several years ago, he got to know the pastor, Rev. Jim Walsh. This past year, Roemer and Fr. Walsh often talked on Sundays after Mass about Roemer's major and professional goals. Somewhere along the way it became a job interview.

St. Pius X created a new position and hired Roemer to fill it. He's the parish's first digital marketing manager. Until his appointment, social media was a shared responsibility by the staff, but never a focus. Roemer's now responsible for the parish's Facebook and Instagram accounts. In-person attendance, particularly among younger parishioners has been waning, especially since the pandemic. Roemer will be applying his digital marketing education and the video and editing skills he developed as an intern in Siena's marketing office to create a more dynamic presence on the web.

"I’ve seen this parish grow throughout the years, and I want to see it grow even more. I know how much potential we have. I’d like to look back and say I’ve made a positive influence on this place. I feel a personal connection to this church. I want to be a part of its growth and success."

In addition to managing the parish's social media accounts, Roemer oversees live streams of services, and he's also developing new content for their YouTube channel. St. Pius X has many ministries, but many of those wonderful stories are going untold. Not anymore. The former altar server has been hired to broadcast the story of St. Pius X to the world.

"I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in today without my four years at Siena. During my college journey, I learned from many great mentors, including the friars. However, three very important people helped me gain the necessary skills and gave me outstanding advice throughout the job search process. I'm grateful to Allison Turcio, Andy Murphy, and Dave Etzler in the Enrollment and Marketing department. Without their guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today with a great job right out of college! I’m super excited to see what the future has in store for me at St. Pius X, and I look forward to seeing how I can help our parish continue to grow!"
