Marketing, School of Business, Career and Internship Center

Kristen Henry '24 was all set to work toward her Siena MBA this fall until a late game pivot. She decided this spring, long after her friends had begun their own job searches, that she wanted workforce experience first. Siena faculty to the rescue...

Henry wasn't panicked, but she felt the time crunch as graduation loomed. Peers were accepting positions and lining up apartments, and she was just beginning the job search. Henry quickly fired off her resume in response to countless job posts on every imaginable platform, but she wasn't getting anywhere. The marketing major's next move made all the difference.

"I had great relationships with my professors, so I reached out and asked for help. Three professors each put me in touch with a contact that had a job opening. Those three leads turned into three job offers."

Henry nearly accepted one of the first two offers, but by then, she was far down the interview process with Rivers Casino & Resort. She declined the second offer and gambled on herself. It paid off when she scored the job. Henry will begin her role as an advertising coordinator for Rivers on August 7.

"This job is exactly what I want to do in the marketing field. It really encapsulates all I want to do with my future."

Over the past couple of years, Henry has had internships at both an in-house marketing department and a marketing agency. With Rivers, she'll work with the in-house team, but also coordinate with their agency partners, something Henry believes will be the best of both worlds. Plus, there are already several Siena graduates working on the marketing team at Rivers, so she expects to fit right in.

"I got an insider's perspective on who they were looking for to fill the position. They wanted someone with a Siena personality – eager to jump right in and learn new things."

LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. are all powerful resources, but for any Saint, there's no better platform than the Siena network.
