  • Anxiety is the top presenting concern among university students (41.6%), followed by depression (36.4%) and relationship problems (35.8%).
  • 80% of university students report being overwhelmed with stress and anxiety about classwork. 
  • 1 in every 12 university students make a suicide plan, according to National Data on Campus Suicide and Depression.

The following are several resources on campus, useful either in emergency situations or treatment:

Counseling Center

This is a confidential resource on campus, in Foy Hall, 110. You can schedule an appointment by calling 518-783-2342.  A clinician is on-call 24/7/365 for mental health emergencies.  Urgent situations should not wait until the next business day. 

The Office of Health Promotion

This is a private resource on campus.  The Office of Health promotion serves as a resource on a wide range of health and wellness initiatives including alcohol and other drug use and abuse, mental health, stress management, healthy relationships, self-care, lifestyle choices and more.   Please contact: Cathy Dockum, LMHC '06, Associate Director of Health Promotion, Foy 109A, 518-782-6209, healthysaints@siena.edu.

Public Safety

This is a private resource and should be contacted after hours or when weekend concerns about student well-being or safety arise. They are located on the first floor of Hines Hall and can be reached at their emergency number, 518-783-2999.

Office of Accessibility

This is a private resource which can provide students with disabilities support and accommodations. Hennepin Hall 130B, and can be reached at 518-783-4239.

Health Services

This is a confidential resource, located in the lower level of MacClosky Townhouse Commons. You can set up an appointment by calling 518-783-2554. Some of the services provided include: immunizations, travel information, information for women, men, and transgender health, and HIV/STI testing.
