TEACHING-FOCUSED PROGRAMS


Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Fulbright is the U.S. government's flagship international educational exchange program and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. With participants chosen for their academic and leadership potential, grantees have the opportunity to teach English in nearly 70 countries around the world. If you're interested in learning more about the Fulbright Program, contact Matt Schiesel (mschiesel@siena.edu), the Fulbright Program Advisor for Siena College.

Japan exchange and teaching programme (jet)

Aimed at promoting grassroots international exchange between Japan and other nations, the JET Programme recruits approximately 2,000 new JET participants every year to come to Japan and work as: Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) who provide language instruction in elementary, junior, and senior high schools; Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) who work in communities on international exchange activities; or Sports Exchange Advisors (SEAs) who promote international exchange through sports.

NORTH AMERICAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE ASSISTANTS PROGRAM (NALCAP)

NALCAP offers recipients the opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture of Spain while sharing the language and culture of the United States and experiencing growth on a personal level. Participants partner with elementary and secondary schools across Spain to bolster language programs and act as language assistants (TAs) for 12-16 hours per week under the supervision and guidance of teachers in Spain. Awardees receive a monthly stipend and medical insurance throughout their academic year of teaching and living in Spain.

Teaching assistant program in france (tapif)

TAPIF offers students the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching English to French students of all ages. Each year, over 1,500 American citizens and permanent residents teach in public schools across all regions of metropolitan France and in the overseas departments of France such as French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Réunion. Following participation in the program, TAPIF alumni pursue global careers in education, international business, public health, international policy and development, arts and culture administration, among other fields.

saint andrew's scholarship for graduate study in scotland

The Saint Andrew's Society of the State of New York annually awards three scholarships to support graduate study for one year in Scotland. Candidates must be of Scottish descent and awards can be used for graduate degrees in a variety of fields, such as law, finance, journalism, education and the arts. Application deadlines are in December, for graduate programs beginning the following academic year.
