As a Franciscan community Siena strives to embody the vision and values of St. Francis of Assisi: faith in a person and provident God, reverence for all creation, affrimation of the unique worth of each person; a community where members work together in friendship and respect, and commitment to building a world that is more just, peaceable, and humane.
The spirit of serving others is one aspect of what makes Siena College special and unique among liberal arts colleges. Service to humanity is central to our Franciscan and Catholic identity. Students, faculty, staff and administation give generously of their time and talent to our local neighborhood, our greater community, and throughout the world.
The Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy is the central office for volunteering at Siena. As the coordinating office for a multitude of services, the FCSA is charged with placing volunteers where they are most needed and where they can make a difference.
In addtion to programming, students are encouraged to and may participate in service learning classes, seminars, and service immersion trips, which are the highlight of many students college careers.
