Duty to Report by Responsible Employees:
“Responsible Employees” have a duty to report incidents of sexual misconduct, discrimination, and harassment, including all relevant details such as names of those involved, date, time, location of the incident, and any specifics shared, to the Title IX Coordinator/EOS: Lois Goland, 518-782-6673.

With the exception of those serving in their role as a confidential resource (Health Services, Counseling Services, The Office of the University Chaplain and Friars), Siena has designated all full-time and part-time faculty, administrators, staff, coaches, and community assistants as responsible employees.  Student orientation leaders, or SAINTS, are also considered responsible employees while acting in their role as a SAINT.

If someone tells you they have experienced sexual violence you can tell them about their rights under the law:
“You have the right to make a report to university police or campus security, local law enforcement, and/or state police or choose not to report; to report the incident to your institution; to be protected by the institution from retaliation for reporting an incident; and to receive assistance and resources from your institution.”

You can also say:
“Thank you for trusting me with this information.  As a responsible employee, I am required to report this to the Title IX Coordinator, Lois Goland.  Her office will reach out to you with an invitation to meet to discuss your reporting options as well as make you aware of the supportive measures available to you.  While you are not required to meet with her I would encourage you to do so to better understand the resources available to you.”
