Siena College is honored to recognize the accomplishments of Mary K. Lawyer as the recipient of the 2022-2023 award.

Mary orchestrated a complete transformation of the College’s enrollment data systems and reporting unit this year to provide the best possible data and insights for the Enrollment Management team. From creation to implementation, and from application to graduation, Mary is at the heart of all of Siena’s enrollment systems. Her innovative and deliberate approach has changed the College’s outcomes for the better. This year, she has also managed a new retention strategy while personally managing aid issues and communicating one-on-one with Siena’s most at-risk students to ensure they return to Siena.

Furthermore, Mary's leadership during the pandemic was nothing short of exceptional. She guided the college through the significant challenge of awarding, managing, and accounting for millions of dollars in pandemic-related federal student aid. Mary's dedication to ensuring that students and their families were still able to access a college education during these challenging times is a testament to her unwavering commitment to Siena and this community.

Mary also played a leadership role in bringing the beautiful Patricia Gioia Hall to life. She managed the movement of the entire enrollment and marketing team out of, and then back into the building. Her attention to detail and her ability to manage complex projects effectively have been instrumental in ensuring the operation is set up for the best possible working environment.

In more than 30 years of dedicated service to Siena, Mary has mentored thousands of students and their families. She “truly bleeds green and gold,” as one colleague offered, and “consistently puts the College, students, and employees at the forefront of everything she does.”

Mary has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Siena College.
