As a native of California, I received a BA in Women's Studies from UC Berkeley, a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Humboldt State University, and an MS in Chemistry from UC San Diego. Among and inbetween, I worked in a hospital lab, in biotech, and forensics.
I moved to Saratoga Springs, NY in 2017 and was inspired by the identification of the Golden State Killer in 2018 by Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG). I founded DNA Finders, a nonprofit that provides FIGG education and services to law enforcement, in 2020. I began speaking at conferences and holding law enforcement trainings. In January 2023, I began teaching forensics and FIGG at SUNY Adirondack, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Siena College. I was offered a full-time position at Siena July 2023 where I now teach.
