My Siena Experience

My Teaching Philosophy

I wrote an essay about my ideas about teaching; it was called The Dialogical Classroom. To me, this means a space in which openness to new ideas and a sense of safety are key characteristics. I encourage this climate in a number of ways, including organizing students into three-person "support groups," where they sit together as a unit throughout the semester while discussing, collaborating, and completing some graded assignments together. I like to use a variety of teaching techniques and to sometimes challenge students with ideas falling outside of the mainstream!

What I Love About Siena

The Franciscan spirit, our small AND beautiful campus, and the truly wonderful students we attract!

My Favorite Courses to Teach

Honestly, all of them. I can't pick one over the other.
