Dr. Pokharel possesses a remarkably interdisciplinary academic portfolio, including a Ph.D. in Statisitcs from the University of South Florida, and MS in Finance from the University of Tampa, an MBA from Ace Institute of Management, and a BS in Physics from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. His research focuses on pioneering applications of statistical methodologies and machine learning algorithm to advance the field of finance. His scholarly work encompasses analytical predictive modeling in financial systems, the development of stochastic intensity functions and the monitoring indicators to identify market signals in stock trading. Additionally, he explores probability distributions of asset returns, portfolio management and optimization, risk management, decision modeling, and machine learning. In his teaching, Dr. Pokharel imparts knowledge in Business Analytics, Data Science, Operations Management and Management Information Systems. He loves to teach finance courses such as FinTech, Financial Modeling, Investment Decisions & Portfolio Management and International Finance. As a dedicated educator, he brings extensive experience in managing and leading business education initiatives in Nepal. He is a firm believer in research-based education, aimed at fostering and nurturing a culture where faculty and staff embody the qualities we aspire for our students to achieve: self-regulated lifelong learners and responsibile, contributing members of society and the world.
