Dan Rutnik is a lifelong resident of the Capital District.

He graduated from Siena College with a B.A. Political Science in 1980 and from Albany Law School with a J.D. in 1983.  The first half of his career was spent at The Ayco Company where he rose to Senior Account Manager before departing in 2002 to form his own financial planning firm, Bender Lane Advisory, LLC.  Bender Lane Advisory merged with Hugh Johnson Advisors in 2019 and was eventually renamed Graypoint LLC.

Dan is currently Chairman of Graypoint and continues to work with a select group of ultra-high net worth families as their outsourced family office manager.

Dan lives in Delmar, New York with his wife Mary.  They have three sons, two of whom graduated from Siena as did his father and one of his brothers.  Dan was honored by Siena as the 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year.

Dan states, “My father attended Siena in the 1950's. He was a Marine veteran, married with a child, and worked three part-time jobs and was still a fulltime student. As a young child I lived across the street from Oliver North in Columbia County. He was older but I would play at their house with his brother. I have never lived or attended school more than thirty miles from Albany. My family is truly Old Albany.”
