 Catherine Snyder, PhD, professor and director of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Dr. Snyder began her career teaching English in China in the 1980s. Her bachelor’s degree is in economics and Chinese from Smith College, and her MBA and MAT degrees are from Union College. She taught social studies in public schools for over a decade before earning her PhD from the State University of New York at Albany. Prior to joining Siena College, she taught at Union College and Clarkson University. She is most proud of her work teaching in the MAT program. She is also a National Board Certified teacher. Her research interests include inquiry teaching methods and the transformative nature of professional graduate education. Dr. Snyder has several published articles and three books on teacher education and inquiry learning. She enjoys gardening and long walks (alone!). She shares her beautiful upstate New York home with her husband, Dave, and their poorly-behaved cat, Marmalade.
