Assistant Director - Erin Spence

Erin Spence, a member of Siena’s Class of 2022, has returned to the Siena community in a new professional role as the Assistant Director of the University's AmeriCorps VISTA program. As a student, Erin studied sociology and was deeply involved at ACE through the Bonner Program, where she developed a strong interest in community-based social change. She partnered with organizations including Capital Roots and Albany Victory Gardens, experiences that sparked her interest in supporting food justice initiatives. This interest led her to begin her career with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York following graduation.

Feeling drawn back to higher education and mentorship, Erin spent two and a half years working in Union College’s Office of Community Engagement, supporting students and strengthening partnerships with community organizations. She is also pursuing her Masters in Social Work at UAlbany, bringing new skills from the classroom into her work with VISTAs and community partners. Erin is excited to bring these experiences back to Siena, supporting VISTAs as they grow their skills and make meaningful contributions throughout the Capital District community.
