Katie earned her Bachelor of Arts in History Education in 2006 and her Masters from Utica College.  

An 8th grade social studies teacher at Southern Regional Middle School in Manahawkin, NJ,  Katie was named the 2025 New Jersey Governor’s Teacher of the Year, an honor that reflects her positive contributions and unwavering commitment to academic, social, and emotional growth of her students. Her work is defined by a sustained commitment to the academic, social, and emotional well-being of her students ensuring that each child is seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.  Beyond the classroom, Katie’s leadership extends to mentoring future educators, shaping the next generation of teachers with the same compassion and purpose that define her own work.

As administrator of her school’s Lions Club, she spearheads service initiatives that instill empathy, civic responsibility, and a sense of shared humanity in her students.  Her dedication to humanitarian service was recognized with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award from Lions Club International, an honor reserved for individuals who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to improving lives.

Katie’s advocacy is deeply personal as well as professional.  As the mother of a daughter with special needs, she has become a powerful champion for inclusion.  Through her role as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, she designs and leads inclusive programming that fosters confidence, courage, and character in every participant.  Her volunteer work with the RWJ Barnabas Field of Dreams further reflects her commitment to creating spaces where all families feel welcomed, supported, and celebrated. 

Her service also includes her work as a CCD program coordinator and teacher, as well as her past recognition as Cross Country/Track and Field Coach of the Year at Leonia High School.  Each role underscoring her belief in developing the whole person, both on and off the field.

A 2006 graduate of Siena College, Katie remains an engaged alumna, collaborating with the College’s alumni office and continuing to inspire future generations through her advocacy and example.  She currently resides in Toms River, NJ with her husband Keith and her children Luke, Jack, and Julia.
