Antonio Civitella’s professional journey began while he was still a student at Siena College through an internship with Forth & Associates, a management consulting firm.
Tony played a key role in developing what would become the company’s flagship software product, Transfinder Pro—an experience that foreshadowed his future as an innovator and business leader.
Following graduation in 1991, Tony joined the firm full time and quickly distinguished himself as a leader. In December 2000, he acquired the company and became President and CEO, renaming it Transfinder after the company’s flagship project.
Under his leadership, Transfinder has grown into a globally recognized technology company serving more than 2,500 school districts across North America, as well as law enforcement agencies through its Patrolfinder platform. With offices in the United States, Shanghai, China, and Mumbai, India, Transfinder has achieved decades of sustained growth and has been repeatedly recognized as one of the region’s fastest-growing companies and best places to work.
Tony’s professional success has been matched by a longstanding dedication to Siena. In 2014, Siena honored him as the inaugural recipient of its Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In response, Tony established the Civitella Entrepreneur of the Year Award Endowment, ensuring the continued recognition of Siena graduates who exemplify innovation, leadership, and service. He also serves on the Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, where he supports Siena’s mission by mentoring students and advising on entrepreneurial programming.
One of Tony’s most meaningful contributions reflects a full-circle connection to Siena. As a high school student, he competed in the Siena High School Programming Contest—an experience that inspired him to pursue computer science and ultimately apply to Siena. In 2018, Tony and Transfinder became the primary sponsors of the contest, enabling it to expand dramatically. Today, the event draws hundreds of students, dozens of schools, Siena student volunteers, and alumni, participants with early exposure to technology, teamwork and higher education. Tony’s support has transformed the contest into one of the region’s premier academic events.
Beyond the university, Tony is widely recognized as a civic and philanthropic leader in the Capital Region. He has supported numerous nonprofit organizations, such as Ellis Hospital, NBT Bank, CBA and the Albany Diocsan School Board. He served on advisory and community boards, and invested in initiatives focused on education, innovation, and economic revitalization. Through his achievements and generosity, Antonio Civitella exemplifies the lasting impact of a Siena University education and the power of leadership rooted in service.
