The first time I stepped on Siena’s campus, I fell in love with it. Siena is not only a beautiful place on the outside because it is filled with such a welcoming community and spirit that made me feel right at home.
After taking my first accounting course in High School, I knew this was where my heart belonged. Growing up I always wanted to take part in the business world, and math has always been my strongest suit. As a freshman I enrolled in more accounting courses and from there I was reassured that accounting was what I want to pursue.
It wasn’t until I walked into Dr. Katherine Silvester’s Accounting class that I realized my path in life. Sitting in her class was like watching the person I want to be: someone who genuinely loves what they do! I enjoy visiting her office from time to time to ask her for advice or to just talk about class courses.
So far my favorite class has been Cost Accounting. Learning and exploring a company’s structure and developing their budgeting and operating plans have given me such insight. I love the real world applications and examples that this class offers in helping me to prepare for the future.
Since the age of two years old, I have enjoyed being able to dance. As a sport, creative outlet, and a fun hobby of mine, dance is a huge part of who I am today. While having been able to learn, grow, and meet many people through dance, I am now at a point in my life where I refuse to give it up. I still enjoy dancing and performing, but my roles as a dancer have evolved. I find myself teaching more and sharing my knowledge with the next generation of dancers.
After receiving my Bachelor of Science in Accounting I hope to continue my education to receive my Masters of Science in Accounting and my CPA. My goals are to work in an accounting firm where I will be able to utilize my skills and continue to grow. I want to continue teaching dance so I can channel both the academic and artistic sides of who I am. I know Siena has given me knowledge, experience, and tools necessary to accomplish these goals and be the person I’m capable of being!
