Retina Bethea
15 Love-Albany, NY
Healthy Living Coordinator 

Retina Bethea is from Manhattan, New York and has recently graduated from Sage College, where she majored in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting, She will attend SUNY Brockport in the fall where she is to get her Master’s Degree in Business Administration.  Retina’s main goal at 15 Love is to develop their Healthy Living Program, so that children who go to 15 Love may learn the benefits of healthy living as well as learn how to make healthy living snacks.


Evelina Bien-Aime
15 Love-Albany, NY
Healthy Living Coordinator 

Evelina is from Johnstown, New York and is currently going into her sophomore year at Siena College, where she studies Psychology.  Evelina is also a Healthy Living Coordinator at 15 Love in Albany, New York, where she shows children who attend the program how to prepare healthy alternatives to many foods as well as educate the benefits of healthy living.


Lauren Castellana
Boys & Girls Club of Albany-Albany, NY
Youth Program Counselor

Lauren is currently going into her sophomore year at Siena College, where she is an Undeclared Liberal Arts student.   Lauren’s role at the Boys & Girls Club of Albany is to develop a curriculum for a 7-week summer camp for children who attend the Boys & Girls Club of Albany.  Lauren is also implementing this curriculum as a Youth Program Counselor for the Boys & Girls Club of Albany.


Deanna Danzy

Youth Program Counselor

Deanna currently is going into her sophomore year at Siena College where she majors in Sociology.  Deanna is originally from Long Island, New York and is working at the Boys & Girls Club of Albany, where she is a Youth Program Counselor.  Under this position, Deanna has developed a curriculum for a summer program for children who attend the Boys & Girls Club. Deanna is also implementing her curriculum for the 7-week summer program.


Deidre Dumpson
Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless-Albany, NY
Human Resource Coordinator 

Deidre is from the Long Island Area and is currently attending the University of Albany, where she is a sophomore with an interest in Public Health.  Deidre is currently a Summer Service Scholar at Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless (IPH), an organization that deals directly with homelessness in the Capital Region.  As a Human Resource Coordinator, Deidre enhances the case management system as well as overall services at the Sheridan Hollow Drop-In Center, which is a branch off of Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless.


 

Monee English
Habitat for Humanity-Albany, NY
Summer Communications and Outreach Coordinator

Monee is a recent graduate from Sage College where she studied Business Administration.  She is from the New York City area and is the Summer Communications and Outreach Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity in Albany.  This position is based around making sure that Habitat for Humanity gets communication and outreach to people in need in a more effective way, so that its mission reaches as many people as possible in Albany and the surrounding areas.


Michelle Ferdinand
Civic Engagement Camp-Loudonville, NY
Senior Counselor/Social Justice & Partner Relations Coordinator

Michelle is a recent graduate of Business Administration from Sage College and is from New York City.  Michelle is a counselor for Siena College’s Civic Engagement Camp, a camp that involves high-school students in meaningful civic engagement and community service projects.  As a Social Justice/Partner Relations Coordinator, Michelle teaches students at the Civic Engagement Camp the importance of Social Justice and what it takes to be a Social Justice Leader.  Michelle is also a Partner Relations Coordinator, meaning that she is developing a method to select community partners for the camp as well as monitor partner satisfaction with student who attends the camp.


Haejin Hwang
Trinity Alliance-Albany, NY
Health Education and Tutoring Coordinator                            

Haejin is from the Albany area and is going into her sophomore year at Cornell University and is studying Government and Economics.  As a Summer Service Scholar, Haejin serves at Trinity Alliance, where she focuses her work on creating events and trainings for people that are based around healthy living, health education, and the importance of being healthy overall.  Haejin also created and implemented a mentoring program for young boys in the South End.


Lima James
15 Love-Albany, NY
Program Assistant for Literacy Program

Lima is from the Connecticut area, and is a recent graduate from the University of Connecticut, where she was a Spanish major with a Latino Studies and International Studies minor.  Lima’s role as the Program Assistant for 15 Love’s Literacy Program is to coordinate, evaluate and improve the summer reading program for inner-city youth.  In this role, Lima will help develop a method that will make distributing books to the inner-city youth more effective and efficient.  


Lensa Jotte
Albany Leadership Academy-Albany, NY
Service Learning Coordinator

Lensa is a Physics major that is from Hiram College and is going into her senior year.  Lensa is serving as a Service Learning Coordinator for Albany Leadership High, an all-girl charter school in Albany.  As a Service Learning Coordinator, Lensa is creating new partnerships and designing their training and programming calendar, which in return will enable students to practice their skills and implement their classroom knowledge through related community service experiences within Albany.


Christine Laurentiev
Troy YMCA-Troy, NY
College Access Coordinator

Christine is a Masters student at The College of Saint Rose studying College Student Services Administration.  Christine is from southern New York and is a College Access Coordinator at the Troy YMCA, where she is developing a programming to help students who attend the YMCA to be better prepared to enter college. This position also prepares students for college and/or the work field, so that students get the necessary skills that they need for the collegiate level/the workforce.


Martha Mortensen
Civic Engagement Camp-Loudonville, NY
Senior Counselor/Diversity and Student Outreach Coordinator

Martha has recently completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Albany, and completed her undergraduate career at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York.  Martha is from Rochester, New York. She is serving as a counselor at the Siena College Civic Engagement Camp.  As a counselor, Martha works closely with the students who attend the camp on their community service-based projects, as well as developing a curriculum based around diversity.  Martha also works with recruitment and outreach to schools around the Albany area.


 

Evan Peter
Radix Ecological Sustainability Center-Albany, NY
Coordinator of Sustainability

Evan is going into his junior year at Siena College, where he is a double major in Economics and Environmental Studies. He lives in Albany area.  Evan is currently placed at the Radix Ecological Sustainability Center in downtown Albany where he works on environmental literacy as well as teaching students the importance of sustainability and knowing the most up to date information on environmental issues, including living “off the grid” and Social Climate Change.


Katrina Ryan
Music Mobile-Albany, NY
Program Leader

Katrina is going into her sophomore year at the University of Albany, and is a Sociology major.  Katrina is from the New York City area and is serving at the Music Mobile, located in Albany, New York.  As a Program Leader for the Music Mobile, Katrina dedicates herself to develop and use her skills to positively impact the lives of numerous low-income children and families in the Albany area by providing them with educational and cultural activities and experiences related to the ties of poverty and powerlessness.  Working with the Music Mobile, much of the focus is on music as a whole and how it can positively impact the lives of children.


Vincent Sepe

Youth Program Counselor

Vincent is going into is senior year at Siena College and is an Environmental Studies major. He is from Southern New York.  Vincent is a Youth Program Counselor at the Boys & Girls Club, where he works on developing a curriculum for a 7-week summer camp for children at various ages.  Vincent has been developing and implementing curriculum for older campers. As a role model for the children at the Boys & Girls Club of Albany, he  works with the children on developing life skills and social skills at the same time.  


Jamie Stacy
Civic Engagement Camp-Loudonville, NY
Senior Counselor/Student Empowerment and Fundraising

 

Jamie is finishing up her Senior Year at Roberts-Wesleyan College, where she studies International Business and Communications. She is from Averill Park, New York.  Jamie is a Senior Counselor at the Civic Engagement Camp at Siena College working specifically on developing a curriculum based around empowering students to rise up and be a social justice leader in their communities.  Jamie also is in charge of fundraising for the camp.
