May E-mail to Incoming Students

Welcome to Siena College!

We in the office of Academic Affairs are excited that you have chosen to come to Siena and we are busy getting things ready for your arrival. By now, you should have received a letter from Campus Programs at Siena which included your Siena ID number (SID) and information on logging on to the “Be A Saint” web page. There you will find both information on your transition to Siena and important forms to fill out. One of the most important points to cover at this time is the creation of your fall class schedule.

You will be registered for your first semester courses by our professional staff. This will take place during the month of June. Before we do this, we will gather a great deal of information on your interests, preferences, and background. You will provide some of this on the "Be A Saint" web page located at when you fill out the “Registration Interest Form”. We take this information and that which is on your high school transcript and your Siena application, look at your intended major, and then we will create schedules for you.

You also have the opportunity to communicate with us over the summer with additional information, preferences or questions. Further, we will communicate with you if we have any questions or concerns. Let us know what is on your mind by:

         1-     E-mail:

         2-     Phone:  518-783- 2955

3- (Be A Saint) – Find us under “Groups” and “Siena Talk”

4-     Visit us in Siena Hall 215  - please contact us to make an appointment .

Here are some important points to keep in mind.

Some academic programs are very prescriptive. For instance, students in the School of Business have two required classes plus First Year Seminar and two additional courses – usually Core. School of Science students have more required classes and many have no choices as to their Fall schedules.  Liberal Arts majors have more options.  We will place you in your First Year Seminar and an introductory course in your major (if you have one) and three courses from the list of those that you have chosen.

Again, all students will fill out the form on  "Be A Saint" web page  indicating what classes they prefer and we will use that to make the schedules. If you do not fill this out, we'll put in classes that fit.

Also, we will be viewing your AP scores, but please list these and any college credit on the Academic Interest Form so we have a clear picture.

You will be able to check your completed schedules on line sometime in late June or early July. Changes to schedules can be made after that, but we highly recommend that you speak with us before you do this.

As you continue to enjoy the end of the school year, please be sure to:

    ·   Visit the summer advising web page established for incoming students at

   ·   Log on to your Siena e-mail account – information on how to do this is on the webpage above.

    ·   Log on to  Be A Saint  to connect with other new students and fill out required forms including the Academic Interest Form

Again, feel free to e-mail us or call with any questions you might have. We can be reached at or 518-783-2955.

We are all looking forward meeting you,

Dr. Peter Ellard

Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
