HEOP Admission

Siena College seeks well-qualified candidates for admission to HEOP.  Space in the program is limited and thus, admission is a competitive process.   According to State Education Department guidelines, HEOP students must be New York State residents and must qualify both academically and financially for the program.

To apply to the HEOP Program of Siena College:

  • Complete and submit either the Siena College Fast-Forward Application or the Common Application to our Admissions Office by February 15 of your senior year in high school (you may do this on-line via our Admissions web pages, see link above - Apply Online ).
  • If you apply using the Siena Fast Forward Application, check off the box indicating you wish to be considered for the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP).  The application fee is waived for HEOP applicants.
  • If you apply using the Common Application, under the Preferred Start Term on the Siena member page, please select Fall 2014-HEOP.
  • Students applying to the HEOP program should select yes to a Common Application Fee Waiver. You can also select an institutional fee waiver on the Siena member page.
  • Have your guidance counselor submit your official high school transcript, SAT or ACT scores, college essay and guidance counselor recommendation.
  • Complete the HEOP Financial Eligibility Assessment Form, which will be mailed to you after you submit your application for admission.
  • Provide our HEOP Office with a photocopy of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Student Aid Report (SAR) as well as documentation of your family income for the year.
  • A personal, on-campus interview is required of all potentially eligible HEOP applicants once all application materials have been received and an initial review of academic and financial eligibility have been determined by the College. On-campus interviews typically begin in late January.
  • Admissions decisions for completed applications are usually announced beginning in mid-March.

If you are from New York State and would like more information about HEOP, either call (518) 783-2352, or e-mail HEOPadmissions@siena.edu
